Inconel 825 - Superior Corrosion Resistance
Inconel 825 is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy designed for exceptional resistance to a wide range of corrosive environments. It is particularly effective against pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress-corrosion cracking in a variety of aggressive media. This alloy also provides excellent resistance to sulfuric and phosphoric acids, as well as resistance to oxidation at higher temperatures. Inconel 825 is widely used in industries such as chemical processing, nuclear power, and marine environments, where both high strength and superior corrosion resistance are critical.
The alloy’s high nickel content makes it resistant to corrosion in reducing environments, while the chromium, molybdenum, and copper contents provide resistance to oxidative and acid environments. Inconel 825 is highly weldable and has good cold-working and hot-forming properties, making it easy to fabricate into complex shapes.
Features of Inconel 825:
- Exceptional resistance to a wide range of corrosive environments, including sulfuric and phosphoric acids.
- Outstanding resistance to stress-corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion.
- Excellent oxidation resistance up to 815°C (1500°F).
- High strength and good fatigue and thermal-fatigue strength.
- Excellent weldability, even in the as-welded condition.
- Good formability and easy to machine.
