Inconel 800 - High Temperature Strength and Corrosion Resistance
Inconel 800 is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy that provides excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion at high temperatures. It is designed for use in environments where both heat and corrosive agents are present, such as in chemical processing, power generation, and industrial furnace applications. Inconel 800 has high strength and oxidation resistance up to approximately 1800°F (982°C) and can be used in both carburizing and reducing atmospheres.
This alloy exhibits good weldability and is resistant to stress-corrosion cracking, making it suitable for a wide range of applications in demanding environments. It is commonly used in heat exchangers, gas turbines, and reactors, as well as in industrial applications where exposure to high temperatures and corrosive conditions is critical.
Features of Inconel 800:
- Excellent resistance to oxidation and scaling at high temperatures (up to 1800°F / 982°C).
- Good resistance to carburizing and reducing environments.
- High strength and resistance to creep and stress-corrosion cracking.
- Excellent weldability and formability, even in the as-welded condition.
- Good mechanical properties at elevated temperatures.
