Alloy 13-8 PH - Precipitation-Hardening Stainless Steel
Alloy 13-8 PH is a high-strength, corrosion-resistant precipitation-hardening stainless steel that is known for its excellent combination of strength, toughness, and resistance to fatigue and stress corrosion cracking. It is widely used in aerospace, defense, and other high-performance industries, offering good weldability and the ability to achieve high mechanical properties through heat treatment.
Features of 13-8 PH:
- High Strength and Toughness: Achieves high tensile strength (up to 1300 MPa) while maintaining good toughness, especially in the heat-treated condition.
- Corrosion Resistance: Excellent resistance to general corrosion, pitting, and stress corrosion cracking in many environments, including acidic and chloride-containing conditions.
- Good Weldability: Can be welded using standard procedures without sacrificing strength or toughness, making it ideal for complex structures.
- Heat Treatable: Precipitation hardening allows the alloy to reach high-strength levels through controlled heat treatment processes.
- Fatigue Resistance: High resistance to fatigue and thermal cycling, making it suitable for demanding structural applications.
