Alloy 410 - Martensitic Stainless Steel
Alloy 410 is a martensitic stainless steel known for its excellent hardness, high strength, and moderate corrosion resistance. It is commonly used in applications where wear resistance and strength are important, particularly in situations where the material may be exposed to mild corrosive environments and high-temperature conditions.
Features of Alloy 410:
- Good Strength and Hardness: Alloy 410 is heat-treatable to achieve high hardness, making it suitable for wear-resistant applications.
- Moderate Corrosion Resistance: Provides resistance to corrosion in mild environments but may not perform well in aggressive chemical or chloride-rich environments.
- Good Wear Resistance: Performs well in applications subject to abrasion and wear.
- Heat and Oxidation Resistance: Can withstand moderately high temperatures, retaining strength and resistance to oxidation up to 650°C (1200°F).
- Weldability: Fair weldability with preheating and post-weld heat treatment to avoid cracking.
