Alloy 329 (UNS S32900) - Duplex Stainless Steel
Alloy 329 is a duplex stainless steel with a balanced combination of ferrite and austenite phases, providing high mechanical strength and excellent resistance to corrosion. It is particularly suited for applications in environments with high chloride content and elevated temperatures, where pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking are significant concerns.
Features of Alloy 329:
- High Corrosion Resistance: Excellent in chloride-rich and oxidizing environments.
- Stress Corrosion Cracking Resistance: Superior to standard austenitic grades like 304 and 316.
- Good Strength: Approximately twice the yield strength of austenitic stainless steels.
- High Temperature Stability: Performs well at elevated temperatures.
- Good Weldability: Suitable for fabrication without requiring post-weld heat treatment.
