Alloy 304L - Austenitic Stainless Steel
Alloy 304L is a low-carbon version of 304 stainless steel, offering excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and good weldability. It is widely used in industries where resistance to corrosion is required, particularly in environments that involve acidic or chloride-rich conditions. The lower carbon content helps to reduce the risk of carbide precipitation during welding, making it ideal for welded applications.
Features of Alloy 304L:
- Excellent Corrosion Resistance: Resists oxidation and corrosion in a variety of environments, including many acids, and salt solutions.
- Good Weldability: Lower carbon content prevents carbide precipitation during welding, minimizing the risk of intergranular corrosion.
- High Strength: Maintains good mechanical properties at both room and elevated temperatures.
- Non-Magnetic: Non-magnetic in the annealed condition, which is beneficial for certain applications.
- Formability and Fabricability: Easy to form into various shapes, including thin-walled structures.
