Product Description:
16NCD13 is a medium-carbon alloy steel that is commonly used for manufacturing high-strength components such as gears, shafts, and other mechanical parts that require good toughness, strength, and wear resistance. It is particularly suitable for parts subjected to heavy mechanical loads and impact, as well as for applications where good hardenability and resistance to wear are important. The steel contains nickel, chromium, and manganese, which enhance its mechanical properties.
Features:
- High Strength and Toughness: 16NCD13 offers an excellent combination of strength and toughness, making it ideal for components that undergo heavy mechanical stresses and impacts.
- Good Wear Resistance: The alloy has good resistance to wear, especially under conditions of high friction, making it suitable for gears and shafts.
- Good Hardenability: 16NCD13 responds well to heat treatment, achieving high strength and hardness, particularly in the case of thicker sections.
- Impact Resistance: The nickel content improves the steel's resistance to impact and shock loading, making it reliable in harsh operating conditions.
- Moderate Corrosion Resistance: While it does not have the corrosion resistance of stainless steel, its chromium content provides some protection against oxidation.
- Good Machinability: 16NCD13 is relatively easy to machine, making it suitable for parts that require precise shaping and forming.
Specifications:
- DIN 1.6773: German standard for alloy steels, which includes 16NCD13.
- AISI/SAE equivalent: This alloy steel is similar to AISI 5130 steel.
- ISO 683-1: This international standard covers the heat-treated alloy steels, which includes specifications for materials like 16NCD13.
