Heat Treatment:
- Annealing: -Heat to 950–1050°C (1742–1922°F), followed by air or water quenching. Enhances ductility and relieves residual stresses.
- Stress Relieving: Heat to 300–600°C (572–1112°F) for 1–2 hours.Slowly cool to minimize distortion after machining.
Applications:
- Aerospace: Structural components and fasteners exposed to moderate temperatures.
- Chemical Industry: Reactors, pipelines, and storage vessels.
- Energy: Components for power plants and renewable energy systems.
- Marine Industry: Parts exposed to mildly corrosive seawater environments.
Corrosion Resistance
- General Resistance: Good resistance to oxidation and mild acidic environments.
- Localized Corrosion: Moderate resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.
- Stress-Corrosion Cracking: Better resistance than austenitic grades in chloride-rich environments.
